Funko Friday: Once Upon A Funko

FUNKO FRIDAY

Funko Friday was started by Pepi and Kimi as a way to showcase your Funko collection once a week. I’ve been slowly developing a large collection of these adorable figures so I was all in for this game!

The first topic is Once Upon a Funk, a story of your very first Funko purchase.

The first Pop I ever bought was Ariel. I remember very specifically standing in Barnes and Noble staring at all the cute figurines and trying to choose between Ariel and Superman. Ariel had a glittery tail, but superman had adorable curl on his forehead. It was a difficult decision, but ultimately, glitter won out.

She is surprisingly the only Disney Funko I own. She currently resides on my Princess Diaries books. All of my other princess figurines reside on that same shelf with all my Meg Cabot books.

What was the first Funko you ever owned?

[Looking Forward To] Marvel Netflix Series

Daredevil: Season 2

“Be careful of the Murdock boys… They got the devil in ’em.”
daredevil
At NYCC this week, they released the first trailer for Daredevil season 2.

Honestly there is a LOT about this season that I’m excited for. I’m stoked to see the potential cross over with Jessica Jones. This show has been easily one of my favorite shows to watch (and rewatch) since it came out in April.

The cast is phenomenal and is only getting better. With the additions of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra, the new season is destined to be amazing.

Jessica Jones: Season 1

“It’s time the world knew her name.”

I have been anxiously waiting for this series since I finished my Daredevil initial watch through. I’m excited for this edgier side of Marvel, and I’m STOKED for Krysten Ritter to play Jessica Jones. The addition of all of these characters to the Netflix Marvel Universe keeps getting me more and more excited.

Its the same reason I love the DC shows on CW so much. I love to see the characters cross over and interact with one another. This is no different. It’s already confirmed that Rosario Dawson will make an appearance on Jessica Jones, now I’m just hoping to see if Foggy can control his sarcastic tone if he were to meet her. Of course, ultimately I’d love to see Matt and Jessica exchange tips on catching the bad guy, but I feel that that won’t happen for a while.

Six on Six: October

What the frak is Six on Six?

A little while ago Scruffy-Little Nerf Herder started a monthly photo challenge to showcase geeky things around your house that correspond to that month’s color
This is a great way to work on your photography skills and showcase your geekery at the same time.

Since it is the month of Halloween, this month’s color is Orange. Orange is still one of my favorite colors, but I don’t own as many things in that color as I used to when I was younger. Read More

Learning to Like Exercise` Gamer Dash 2015

Today was my final lap for the 5ks hosted by Geek’d Out Events and I was not prepared. This past week has been a sort of last hurrah for me at work before our health challenge starts next week. With all the craziness that happened with SLCC last week, I had been indulging a little this week. By indulging a little…I mean A LOT! When I woke up this morning I knew I wouldn’t be in tip top shape. I also knew that I was going to finish anyway.

Thursday and Thrilled: Quieting the Brain Noise

t&t

The past couple weeks have been a blur of running, fandoms, photo ops, and fast food. I have no one to blame but myself. This saturday marks the final event that I’ve had planned for the past few months and I can finally start to relax.

I’m pretty excited to start winding down in the fall and winter months, starting with these few things:

Would You Like a Little Con with Your Photo Ops? [Salt Lake Comic Con 2015]

Last week I talked about how excited I was to go to Salt Lake Comic Con this year. I had an ABSOLUTE blast. This year they seemed to be a bit more organized that I had heard about in the past, and I was actually really glad that the volunteers seemed to be able to answer questions more thoroughly than they had in the past. I didn’t get to nearly as many panels as I wanted to. I was standing in lines (for photo ops, autographs and the occasional panel) for about 70% of the time I was there.

I really should have written about this each day, but I was so tired by the end of each day I didn’t think I could get my fingers to move like that. I apologize for the lengthy-ness of this post.

Thursday and Thrilled: Salt Lake Comic Con Edition

t&t
I’m sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week. I blame my excitement for Salt Lake Comic Con starting TODAY!

This is Salt Lake Comic Con’s Third Year and has been growing like crazy each year. This will be my second time attending and I’m VERY excited. This con has had its fair share of growing pains (and then some), but I feel that each year they are trying to get things better and better.

SLCC

This year I don’t think I’ll be doing any cosplay. It’s going to be a year of photo-ops for me and I don’t want to be in Cosplay for my pictures (I know. It’s a bit lame).

Though just because I won’t be dressing up, doesn’t mean I don’t want some pointers on what to do for Cosplay. Read More

Karen Hallion and The Doctor meets Disney

When I discover something and enjoy it, I have a tendency to fall head over heels in love with it. Be that a TV show, a fandom, or in this case, an artist.

I first discovered Karen Hallion when I saw her shirts come across on TeeFury a few years ago. The first one I saw was Ariel and the Doctor, and it was love at first sight. I dove deep into what other things she drew. I stalked her Etsy page and after reading her bio, I knew that she would be one of those artists I’d want to follow for a long while.
