Since You’ve Been Gone

By: Morgan Matson

It was Sloane who yanked Emily out of her shell and made life 100% interesting. But right before what should have been the most epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. All she leaves behind is a to-do list.

On it, thirteen Sloane-inspired tasks that Emily would normally never try. But what if they could bring her best friend back?

Apple picking at night? Okay, easy enough.

Dance until dawn? Sure. Why not?

Kiss a stranger? Um…

Emily now has this unexpected summer, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected), to check things off Sloane’s list. Who knows what she’ll find?

Go skinny-dipping? Wait…what? (from Goodreads)

Royal Wedding

By: Meg Cabot

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone— especially herself—that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?(from Goodreads)

Flash Fiction Wednesday or FlashFicWed. I was a little overexcited about this last week and posted a story A WEEK early, so I decided to write and post a new one today.

Flash Fiction Wednesday was started by the awesome loudlysilent and is a MONTHLY (not weekly like SOME people *cough*me*cough* thought until the adorable Christa Mae at ObsessiveGirlFan corrected her) challenge to write a short story, 600 words max. A challenge that I’m going to try and participate in more often.

So… here we go. Anna Tries to Write- Take Two!

Fester, Fester, Fester…. Rut, Rut, Rut

I’ve been in a writing rut. I keep trying to pull myself out of it by doing tags (book and TV tags) or participating in weekly community features like 5 Fandom Fridays, but something is not clicking. I feel like this happens a lot when I start blogging. I’ll do really well for a while, then slowly I just stop. This repeated problem is really annoying me.

The worst part is pulling myself out of this rut. I want to write more, I have about a dozen half written posts on my drive but I just can’t bring myself to finish them. Part of me thinks they’re not ready to be forever on the internets, another part of me just wants them to be done so they can stop clogging up my drive.

In a rut, go talk to some food.

So I’m asking advice from those that will give it…

What keeps you writing? What is your best way to keep motivated and timely? I’ll take any advice you can give me.

5 Fandom Friday: My Fictional BFFs

5 Fandom Friday: My Fictional BFFs

This week’s 5 Fandom Friday topic is Fictional BFFs and OMG did I have a hard time narrowing it down. As someone who gets far too emotionally attached to fictional characters I tend to feel that every character is my BFF. To quote Mindy Lahiri: “Best Friend isn’t a person Danny, its a tier!” so to pick ONLY five was incredibly difficult. Read More

{Writing Wednesdays} “It Was the Only Road Out of Town…”

In an effort to keep my writing skills up to par and to keep up on blogging, my friend Nicki and I have decided to do a prompt fueled Wednesday every couple of weeks that we’re calling “Writing Wednesdays” (yay alliteration!!)

Here is how it works: This will be a semi-monthly feature here and at Nicki’s Blog. On the first and third Wednesday of every month we’ll post a prompt that we’ve either found or thought up ourselves along with our drabble for said prompt. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in, all we ask is that you link back to one of us on your own Writing Wednesday posts.

Also, be sure that you comment on this post with a link to your own post so that everyone can check out the other blogger’s stories.
