5 Fandom Friday: My Fictional BFFs

5fandomfriday

This week’s 5 Fandom Friday topic is Fictional BFFs and OMG did I have a hard time narrowing it down. As someone who gets far too emotionally attached to fictional characters I tend to feel that every character is my BFF. To quote Mindy Lahiri: “Best Friend isn’t a person Danny, its a tier!” so to pick ONLY five was incredibly difficult.

1: Donna Noble | Doctor Who

“I’m a human being. Maybe not he stuff of legend, but every bit as important, thank you.”
When I saw the topic for this week she was the first character to pop into my head. Of all of The Doctor’s companions, Donna has been (by far) my favorite. She was the only companion (in the new who) that neither the Doctor nor the companion had any sort of romantic feelings toward one another. They were just bros broing through space. Donna called the Doctor out on his crap and never let him get away with anything. ALSO, of all of the companions, Donna has the most heart-crushing goodbye and because of that her character is endeared to me.
2: Charlie Bradbury | Supernatural
“I also found these series of books by Carver Edlund. Did those books really happen? Wow. That is some meta-madness. Thanks for saving the world and stuff. Sorry you have zero luck with the ladies.”
I like people who speak the truth. While Charlie was one of the only characters to accept the Winchester’s life as quickly as she did, she also doesn’t let them get away with anything. She makes them explain what is happening, forces them to take a step back and realize that she is part of their life now. As the sister they never wanted.

Ron Weasley | Harry Potter

“Don’t let it worry you,” said Ron. “It’s me. I’m extremely famous.”
At first I thought it’d be Hermione. But if I’m being really honest with myself I think that I’d be more of a bestie with Ron. Ron is dorky and a bit klutzy, he has a hard time putting words together when in the presence of his idols or celebrities, he fumbles over his words and hides from spiders. He’s basically me in male form.

Claudia Donovan | Warehouse 13

“No, it’s cool. I’ve actually been waiting for an opportunity to feel this completely mortified with myself so, huzzah!”
Sooo… I’m seeing a theme here. *blush* I have a thing about adorable red heads who are strong and supportive and smart and don’t take crap from anyone. Claudia is no different. Out of all the BFFs on this list, she is the one that I wish was real the most. I just want to head to a pub and play and sing tunes with her then go hunt artifacts the next day.

Kara “Starbuck” Thrace | Battlestar Galactica

“Pilots call me Starbuck, you may refer to me as God.”
I watched Battlestar for the first time a few years ago. I binged the whole series pretty quickly and Starbuck remained the stellar performer in my mind through the whole series. Kara is the best friend that you’d want to have by your side when things start going downhill for you. She is a bit abrasive and blunt, but sometimes you need someone to knock some sense into you and tell you that the choice you’re making is dumb. Also, if you ever wanted to get drunk with someone, Starbuck is the one to do it with.

Honorable Mentions

Leslie Knope | Parks and Recreation “What I hear when I’m being yelled at, is someone caring loudly at me.”
Amy Santiago | Brooklyn Nine Nine “Jokes on you, I skipped fourth grade.”
Lily Aldrin | How I Met Your Mother “You sonofabiiich!”
Piper Halliwell | Charmed “Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a step back and give yourself a chance to breathe.”
Samantha Carter | Stargate SG-1 “You know, you blow up one sun and suddenly everyone expects you to walk on water. “
Zack Addy | Bones “Since I became the uncontested King of the Lab.”

Thank you Megan and Kristin for starting this. I’m so excited to join in more often!!!
