May Comic Book Swap!

You read that right, in May (I’m so late on this it’s not even funny any more) the amazing Stacey from Geeks and Lattes hosted a Comic Book swap on the Geek Girl Bloggers group! I don’t know how much I’ve talked about it yet, but I freaking love this group. They are so amazing and supportive and don’t make you feel dumb for asking questions about how they got their blog the way it is, it’s so amazing to be part of such an awesome group of ladies.

Anyway, this post was supposed to be up WEEKS ago, and I got distracted with creating a new site, and starting a new diet, and you know… life that I just kept putting it on the back burner. This is totally my bad, but I have to show you what I got!

Art, Newb Cosplay and Osric Chau [Fan Xperience 2016]

This post is a LOT longer than I was anticipating…

Capture
Salt Lake Comic Con does two conventions a year. The main one usually takes place in September and is bigger and more intense. Whereas Fan Xperience usually takes place in the beginning of the year and more like “Comic Con Lite”. When people who have never been to a convention ask me which one to go to, I tell them FanX. It’s a bit less of an shock to the system.

This year during FanX was pretty light. I didn’t really plan anything and just kind of let things happen. Luckily, two of my very good friends were willing to pal around with me the whole time. There was two things I wanted to accomplish this con: Get through my photo-ops without pulling out my hair, and hit my 10,000 steps a day on my FitBit. Read More

Thursday & Thrilled: Let’s Catch Up!

Thursday & Thrilled: Let’s Catch Up!

February has been a hard month for me. After getting some pretty emotional news at the beginning of the month it’s thrown me into a terrible funk. I’ve been working through this news and have finally started feeling more like myself. The funk is finally on it’s way out of my system and as such it is time to catch up with you!

I’ve missed you lovely readers!

[Looking Forward To] Marvel Netflix Series

Daredevil: Season 2

“Be careful of the Murdock boys… They got the devil in ’em.”

At NYCC this week, they released the first trailer for Daredevil season 2.

Honestly there is a LOT about this season that I’m excited for. I’m stoked to see the potential cross over with Jessica Jones. This show has been easily one of my favorite shows to watch (and rewatch) since it came out in April.

The cast is phenomenal and is only getting better. With the additions of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra, the new season is destined to be amazing.

Jessica Jones: Season 1

“It’s time the world knew her name.”

I have been anxiously waiting for this series since I finished my Daredevil initial watch through. I’m excited for this edgier side of Marvel, and I’m STOKED for Krysten Ritter to play Jessica Jones. The addition of all of these characters to the Netflix Marvel Universe keeps getting me more and more excited.

Its the same reason I love the DC shows on CW so much. I love to see the characters cross over and interact with one another. This is no different. It’s already confirmed that Rosario Dawson will make an appearance on Jessica Jones, now I’m just hoping to see if Foggy can control his sarcastic tone if he were to meet her. Of course, ultimately I’d love to see Matt and Jessica exchange tips on catching the bad guy, but I feel that that won’t happen for a while.

Thursday and Thrilled: Salt Lake Comic Con Edition

t&t
I’m sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week. I blame my excitement for Salt Lake Comic Con starting TODAY!

This is Salt Lake Comic Con’s Third Year and has been growing like crazy each year. This will be my second time attending and I’m VERY excited. This con has had its fair share of growing pains (and then some), but I feel that each year they are trying to get things better and better.

SLCC

This year I don’t think I’ll be doing any cosplay. It’s going to be a year of photo-ops for me and I don’t want to be in Cosplay for my pictures (I know. It’s a bit lame).

Though just because I won’t be dressing up, doesn’t mean I don’t want some pointers on what to do for Cosplay. Read More

Giant Sized Little Marvel : A v X!

Recently my friend the amazing LoudlySilent asked me to join their site Comics Recap as a contributor. I was bouncing off the walls I was so excited!

My first post on Comics Recap is now available. I hope that it makes you want to pick up this comic. I decided to write about the most recent comic I’ve read which was Giant Sized Little Marvel: A v X*, this adorable comic was written and drawn by Skottie Young and is amazing. Check out the review for more info.

After my post about Silk, I have had a little bit more invigoration to write more about comics. The problem is that I’m not that well versed. I only started collecting as recently as this year. As such I have been trying to jump in on any new series that strike me. Most of what I’ve been reading has been Marvel (because that’s where I tend to gravitate when I think of superheroes), but I’ve been wanting to expand that knowledge and try other series and other creators.

That all being said, I thought I’d throw it out to the universe and ask what comics you would recommend that I try next?

Let me know down in the comments!

[Comics] Marvel’s Silk

I was never really that into comics. I liked the idea of them and when my grandparents used to hand them out with their halloween candy I would always stash away a couple issues for myself to read later. Betty and Veronica I enjoyed, but the Batman ones were always entertaining to me too. Aside from that, I never really reached out for comics.

Once the Marvel Movies started leaking I found my interest in them to peak. I was curious about these characters I had been watching on the screen. I wanted to see how the character differed in the comic. However, trying to jump into Captain America or Iron Man was daunting. So in the past year (primarily the past few months) I’ve been searching for a series that is just starting or at least a more recent retelling of the stories.

All that being said, I’ve found some comics that I’ve become completely addicted to.
