NerdyAlerty: Origin Story

I saw this awesome Blogger Recognition Award on Like Gwen Stacy and thought it was a great idea! So since she tagged anyone who read it and wanted to do it, I decided to take my shot!

The award was created by Edge of Night and here are the rules:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of NightThat way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing

NerdyAlerty Origin Story:

I’ve had a good handful of blogs in the years I’ve been writing. From multiple Livejournals, to a blogger, and even a TV review site. But I always felt pigeonholed into writing about one thing. I used Blogger for writing about writing and Livejournal for venting about anything and everything. Then one day I realized that my life wasn’t as bad as I liked to pretend it was, and I wasn’t really writing what I wanted to on any other site. So I took a break. I didn’t blog or do anything in the community for a good while. In that time I got a new job and a my fingers started itching for blogging again. In that new job someone asked me to explain myself in one sentence. The first thing out of my mouth was “I’m a girl with a neon sign above her head blinking ‘NERD ALERT'”. I decided that I was going to use that as a jumping off point for a newer blog and that I was going to try to be a bit more involved in the community than I have before.

Advice to Other Bloggers:

My approach at blogging is similar to my approach on NaNoWriMo: Just write. Though with blogging there is more editing and graphics. Ultimately, try and be as true to yourself as you can and keep trying.

I Tag:

YOU! Anyone who wants to do it and I think you should. I’d love to hear your origin story. <3
